Abstract

The remittances that Ecuador receives are very important for some of the regional economies. Although at the beginning of the pandemic it was estimated that remittances would decrease, in this country remittances from abroad increased. However, it is necessary to consider their contribution in this year of crisis in the different regions. For this, with a quarterly methodology of some variables and the use of quadrants, a diagram is established that allows observing the effect of remittances in the regions, dependent on them, as a countercyclical mechanism during the crisis of 2020.
