Indústrias criativas e inovação nas cidades mexicanas

As indústrias criativas representam mais de 3% do emprego e, se forem contabilizadas todas as atividades criativas, este número ultrapassa os 7% do emprego nacional. A taxa de crescimento destes sectores é muito superior à da economia nacional, o seu crescimento médio anual quase duplica a taxa de crescimento de toda a economia. O objetivo deste estudo é mostrar evidências empíricas de que o setor das atividades criativas contribui para a redução da ineficiência produtiva através da inovação, o que leva a um crescimento da produtividade que melhora a situação competitiva das empresas em cidades com maior concentração de talento e criatividade . Utilizámos a metodologia NESTA e UNCTAD para classificar os setores, em seguida, utilizámos um modelo de fronteira estocástica para medir o impacto que as indústrias criativas têm na eficiência, inovação e produtividade. Para isso, estudámos as indústrias criativas em 59 áreas metropolitanas do México, utilizando os dados do Censo Económico publicado pelo INEGI. Os nossos resultados mostram que a I+D, tal como o Software, são os sectores que geram fortes efeitos indirectos sobre o resto das actividades nas cidades mexicanas e conduzem a níveis mais elevados de eficiência produtiva em todos os sectores produtivos da economia.
