The Socio-Economic-Environmental Contribution in the Zone of Influence: Generation of Wealth and Value of the Brazilian Port Sector

Brazil has a high maritime and river potential that generates regional development. The importance of the aquatic modal is related to: transportation of people and cargoes; socioenvironmental issues; and investment in training that motivated this research. The study has two categories of analysis: Potential of Generation of Value and Potential of Generation of Wealth. In order to examine the socio-economic and environmental investment of the port activity, a descriptive survey was carried out with the collection of secondary data published in the corporate reports of a private port in the city of Navegantes and another public port in Itajaí, both in the State of Santa Catarina Brazil. The main results point to the public-private management integrated with the socio-economicenvironmental needs of the port regions.
