The city is characterized for being a heterogeneous space both in terms of social groups and in human activities. Constant social and economical changes, which occurred especially in the last decade, reorganized the cities internal space, introducing new forms of organization and urban morphology. This study demonstrates, for the city of Lisbon, new social and spatial exclusion forms and self-segregation, which comes in opposite to the traditional imposed segregation rules. This urban space occupation and appropriation, by the higher social classes, influences and reflects Lisbon’s urban space remodeling.
