The main purpose of this paper is to analyze how long the beneficiaries remain in the Minimum Guaranteed Income Program (MGIP) in the Azores. The results indicate that households with older requesters stay for a longer period in the program. The household size also has a positive impact on the length of the registration whereas the per capita income has a negative impact on the probability of remaining more than two years in the program. We also find significant differences in the durations by island of residence. In particular, those living in the S. Miguel island are more likely to stay for more than two years in the program.
