Mobilidade da Mão-de-obra entre Estados do Mercado de Trabalho da Região Norte, 1998-2000 Uma Aplicação com Cadeias de Markov

Abstract

The following study analyses the labour transitions of the North of Portugal (NUTS II) resident population, over the period 1998 to 2000. The microdata database of the Portuguese Labour Force Survey (quarterly periodicity) was used. The analysis emphasised on the estimation of the transition probabilities between states, under discrete time Markov chains framework, to different population segments and the states correspond to individuals’ status in economic activity (employment, unemployment, inactivity and their partitions).
