The airport infrastructure constitutes a very current issue in regional development. Airports have recognized economic impacts on regions where they are located, being important in the affirmation of tourism. In this context, it is considered appropriate to analyze an old aspiration: the regional airport for the Região Centro. The justification of this project lies in the dynamic city airport, industrial and tourism planning. In times of crisis, the construction of new infrastructures is not a consensual issue. Moreover, there is a certain balance in the distribution of traffic by the national airports. However, given the abandonment of infrastructure projects in accessibility, as the new Lisbon airport and high speed railway, the Região Centro has no proper integration in the urban network of superior rank.
