The purpose of this article is to analyze the relation between immigration and trade between EU countries. Specifically, in the context of EU borders enlargement in 2004, we will test if stock accumulation of immigrants that came from new state members has an impact, or not, on Portuguese exports to those markets. Applying panel data of 1995-2007 period to Portugal, in a gravity model of international trade plus the international immigrant stock variable, the result is that migration resulting from EU enlargement has a positive impact on Portuguese exports to their countries of origin.
