Apropriação do Espaço Público na Cidade de Aveiro – Estratégias para Maximizar os Benefícios e Minimizar os Impactes Negativos da Apropriação de Espaços Públicos pelos Visitantes

Resumo

Embora diversas perceções e atitudes dos residentes face aos impactes do turismo estejam amplamente estudadas, o mesmo não acontece em relação à apropriação do espaço público e às estratégias passíveis de serem adotadas para minimizar os impactes negativos desta apropriação. Este artigo pretende responder a esta lacuna de investigação, através da análise da opinião dos residentes relativamente às estratégias que devem ser adotadas e se esta varia em função, quer das perceções da apropriação do espaço público pelos visitantes, quer das suas atitudes para com os visitantes. Para dar resposta a este objetivo, foi realizado um inquérito por questionário (N = 301) a residentes da cidade de Aveiro, localizada na Região Centro de Portugal. Os resultados mostram que o grau de concordância dos residentes relativamente às estratégias, está relacionado tanto com a sua perceção relativamente à apropriação dos espaços públicos, como com as suas atitudes para com os visitantes. A perceção da apropriação negativa dos espaços, tende a gerar uma preferência por estratégias de exclusão dos visitantes. Contrariamente, a perceção positiva, tende a gerar uma maior concordância com estratégias de inclusão e de apoio aos visitantes.
